MSI, Pegasus agree to develop interface
between PMS
CRS Interface will include rate update
and client file information that will allow hoteliers to manage rates and
customer data from one system
PHOENIX — NOVEMBER 3, 2005— Multi-Systems Inc. (MSI) and Pegasus Solutions
Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS), have agreed to develop an interface between Pegasus’
RezView® central-reservation system and MSI’s WinPM property-management
system that will result in what the companies expect to be the industry’s
most advanced, integrated PMS/CRS solution available today. MSI also will
assist Pegasus in developing an additional interface for the RezView® CRS
that will be compliant with Open Travel Alliance (OTA) specifications.
The WinPM/RezView interface, which represents an enhancement of an
existing version, is expected to be available in first quarter 2006.
“MSI’s growth and longevity in the hospitality industry can be attributed
in part to the strong business relationships we have with leading
technology and service companies such as Pegasus Solutions,” said MSI
president Rick Munson. “Together MSI and Pegasus will be able to offer our
customers enhancements, new products and even more opportunities for
interfaces that save them time and money.”
Dennis Law, senior vice president of product management for Pegasus, said
the goal of the MSI/Pegasus partnership is to provide a completely
integrated enterprise system that will rival anything in the industry. The
two-way integrated interface will enable information in WinPM and RezView
— such as rates and availability — to be shared between systems and
exchanged in both directions in real time, he said.
“The MSI/Pegasus interface will make it easier for hotels to manage rates
and customer data from a single point of entry,” Law said. “The integrated
interface will ensure data distribution and synchronization”
OTA Interface in Development
Mark Houser, MSI chief information officer who has been responsible for
leading MSI’s technology development and implementation effort for the
past 20 years, said MSI is excited to be combining its expertise in
CRS/PMS integration with Pegasus’s strengths in servicing its customers
with central-reservation systems.
“Real-time validation for travel agent and frequency information allows a
hotel or group of hotels to build programs internally that inspire loyalty
and customer retention,” Houser said. “By working with Pegasus on a
broader customer definition, these interfaces will offer the widest range
of functionality and integration available today.”
With increasing opportunities to redefine industry specifications through
its partnership with Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG) and its
ability to introduce innovative approaches to hotel properties and their
guests based on OTA standards, Houser said it’s critical that MSI
continues to focus on interface development and building stronger business
partnerships such as this one.
“We could not be as technology-focused and successful as we are today
without valued business partners such as Pegasus, and our dedicated
development, operations and support teams,” Houser said.
The announcement of the agreement on the two interfaces comes on the heels
of the MSI and Pegasus announcement last week that MSI purchased the
NovaPlus and GuestView PMS business from Pegasus. The NovaPlus system
serves as the private-label PMS for more than 450 Best Western hotels.
